The Finance career path gives you the benefit of improving your financial management skills while gaining valuable leadership training in the pharmaceutical industry.

Across this three-year career path, you'll gain wide-ranging experience of different business units and develop through different finance roles. You'll do a real job, with responsibilities and deliverables, whether you're embedded within our research and development (R&D), commercial, manufacturing, corporate or Shared Services functions. Throughout you'll be part of our global finance community, gaining a solid grounding in financial management and business partnering.

Meanwhile, our intense, practical leadership training combines mentoring, classroom learning and on-the-job learning to equip you to become a leader of the future.

What will I learn?

You’ll develop a sound understanding of financial management through a series of challenging, in-depth work placements and the study of your CIMA qualification. These rotations will give you a detailed insight into how a large, multi-national company operates in today’s fast-moving healthcare industry.

Our Finance career path is available in the countries listed below. We are a truly global organisation, so there will be opportunities to gain international experience after the scheme has ended.

What’s expected of me?

You will be an integral member of the finance team, with your own area of responsibility and deliverables. In addition, we’ll expect you to get involved in projects often working in cross functional teams.This means you’ll need to build working relationships with people at all levels of our organisation. You’ll analyse and interpret data to identify and understand trends, insights and facts. You will use strong communication skills to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance partners. Whilst on placement we will expect you to grow your business understanding. Not least, we want you to keep developing new skills and knowledge wherever you find the opportunity. 

What do I need to succeed?

Whatever your degree, you'll need ambition, business acumen, a genuine interest in finance and a self-motivated, proactive approach. We’re looking for clear, effective communicators who can quickly build a rapport with a wide range of people. It’s also important that you can adapt to change and keep focused when the pressure is on. You need the drive and confidence to trust your own judgements and be a real team player who actively collaborates with others. In addition, you’ll need an analytical mind, a talent for multi-tasking and the ability to influence others.
