"I’ve always had big ambitions, and the Future Leaders programme is a huge challenge for me that I’m really enjoying. Every time I start to be comfortable, something changes and there’s a new project or skill to embrace. I never really considered myself a strong leader before, but I’ve developed a lot of leadership skills during the programme. Now I’m much more confident about leading other people, inspiring them and encouraging them to see things from different perspectives. This is a strength I wouldn’t have developed without the programme."

When I was initially looking into graduate programmes, GSK became my number one option when I heard about the strong values that guide its activities.

I was raised with the belief that it’s important to do the right thing and act in a transparent way. The fact that GSK also values integrity and transparency highly resonated with me. GSK’s values correspond to the way I was raised and the way I want to be. And when a company’s values match your own, it definitely makes work more enjoyable.

I also read about GSK’s joint project with Save the Children, and how the company is working to supply products to remote areas and making medicines more accessible for low-income communities. That was the kicker for me.

Since joining the programme, I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to experiment all the time and be involved in many different kinds of activities. My job constantly surprises me. Whenever I start to be comfortable, something changes and there’s a new project or skill to embrace.

For example, when I was working on the Material Science programme in Latin America last year, I was carrying out research into how well different formulas were working. I was using new techniques and had to work fast so that colleagues could use my research to make time-sensitive decisions. I had to be flexible, too. I might come in one morning expecting to work in a particular area to discover that there had been a development overnight, so the whole team had to come together to solve this new problem.

I never really considered myself a strong leader before, but I’ve developed a lot of leadership skills during the programme. Now I’m much more confident about leading other people, inspiring them and encouraging them to see things from different perspectives. This is a strength I wouldn’t have developed without the programme.

The Future Leaders Programme is a huge challenge for me that I’m really enjoying. If you’ve got big ambitions, it could be right for you too.

GSK became my number one option when I heard about the strong values that guide its activities and how it gives back to the community.
