What’s this area all about?
Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) turns GSK’s mission inward to help employees ‘do more, feel better and live longer’. We work in partnership with departments all across GSK to build a healthy, resilient, high-performing workforce. We strive to do no harm to our people and the environment by partnering with business leaders to ensure the best work environment, creating safe workspaces and reducing risks and adverse impact.
What is this career path like?
You’ll play a part in helping us move closer to our ambitions of healthy, high performance with zero workplace injuries and environmental impact. We’ll give you a solid foundation across the breadth of EHS&S through rotations across areas including environment, safety, and health and wellbeing. As you work across the business, you’ll gain international experience from collaborating with colleagues around the world.
What will I learn?
Our aim is to enable you to gain technical and business knowledge and develop the leadership and communication skills you’ll need to become a future EHS&S leader. You’ll have the benefit of improving your technical skills while gaining valuable leadership training in the pharmaceutical industry. You’ll be supported by coaching and training specific to your rotations and we’ll help you gain relevant professional qualifications. We'll give you a breadth of experience across our EHS&S model and you’ll also have an opportunity to learn about areas outside of EHS&S.

What’s expected of me?
We’ll expect you to get involved in managing projects and prioritising a variety of tasks effectively. This means you’ll need to build working relationships with people at all levels of our organisation. In addition, you’ll analyse information, identify risks and report your findings, so we can identify and understand trends, insights and facts. We’ll also look to you to help research what is happening in the external environment. In addition, we will expect you to take advantage of the extensive leadership training on offer. Not least, we want you to keep developing new skills and knowledge wherever you find the opportunity.
What do I need to succeed?
We are particularly interested in Life Sciences and Engineering graduates who are keen to explore a career in a global pharmaceutical business. Along with a degree, you’ll need ambition, a genuine interest in EHS&S and the healthcare industry and a self-motivated, proactive approach. We’re looking for clear, effective communicators who can quickly build a rapport with a wide range of people. It’s also important that you can adapt to change and keep focused when the pressure is on. While you’ll have the drive and confidence to trust your own judgement, you’ll also be a real team player who actively collaborates with others. In addition, you’ll need an analytical mind and the ability to influence other people.
